Winter Engagement Session at Cannon Beach and Hug Point

Patience is key when planning a winter engagement session on the Oregon Coast—especially if you’re holding out for sunshine. Christos and Lexie were totally up for the wait, and after watching the forecast like hawks, we finally got the perfect clear day. (It took us about two months to find the best day, I wasn’t kidding about the patience part!) With golden light, crisp ocean air, and two people completely in love, waiting for this session was so worth it.

We kicked things off at Cannon Beach, where Haystack Rock gave us that classic PNW backdrop. The winter sun was magic—warm and glowy but soft enough to keep things dreamy. Christos and Lexie kept things natural, running along the shore, getting their feet sandy, and just soaking up the moment together.

After Cannon Beach, we headed down to Hug Point—one of my favorite little coastal gems. But here’s the trick: Hug Point is only accessible at low tide. If you’re planning a session (or just exploring), checking the tide charts ahead of time is a must. When the tide is out, you’ll find a stunning mix of sea caves, layered sandstone cliffs, and even a little waterfall trickling down the rocks. It’s straight-up movie scene material.

I love blending different formats, so we shot on a mix of digital, 35mm film, and Polaroids to capture all the little moments in different textures and tones. Film gives everything that soft, nostalgic feel, while Polaroids add a fun, instant keepsake vibe. It’s the best of all worlds, and Christos and Lexie fully embraced the mix.

Here are some of my favorite film frames from their session:

If you’re dreaming of an Oregon Coast engagement session, there are so many ways to make it feel personal. Planning for sunrise or sunset gives you the dreamiest lighting, while soft neutrals, cozy sweaters, and flowy fabrics look amazing against the wild coastline. A bottle of champagne never hurts, and finding a tucked-away beach or a dramatic cliffside can make the whole experience feel extra special.

Christos and Lexie’s session was all about embracing the adventure, soaking up the sunshine, and just being themselves. That’s exactly what I love capturing—candid, heartfelt moments that feel like you. Whether it’s a sunny winter day or a moody, windswept afternoon, we’ll create something beautiful together.
